The design of this residential complex draws inspiration from the vernacular architecture of northern Iran — where houses are typically placed at the center of a courtyard, and the surrounding open space acts as a mediator between interior and exterior life. In this spatial logic, the courtyard is not merely an empty void but a living threshold for breathing, interaction, and coexistence with nature.
Reinterpreting this idea in a contemporary context, each residential unit in the project is provided with a private courtyard — a semi-open entrance space that creates a gradual and meaningful transition from the outside world to the intimacy of home. These courtyards echo the fluid boundary between architecture and landscape, a defining characteristic of northern Iranian dwellings.
Circulation paths between the units take inspiration from traditional verandas and open corridors, reinforcing the project’s social and connective layers. These shared spaces invite both movement and pause — fostering encounters and a sense of community while maintaining privacy.
In the overall composition, the proportions and vertical openness of the courtyards draw from the region’s pitched roofs and extended verandas, enhancing natural light, airflow, and a sense of spatial generosity that connects living spaces with their surrounding landscape.
Ultimately, the project seeks to reinterpret the essence of vernacular architecture through a contemporary language — one that finds authenticity not in repeating historical forms, but in sustaining their underlying logic, spatial harmony, and human connection to nature.
