In the design of this residential complex in the city of Rasht, the project seeks to move beyond the conventional model of compact housing blocks with enclosed access corridors, proposing instead a more open and breathable spatial structure that responds to the region’s humid climate and the everyday quality of collective living.

The buildings are organized as a series of independent volumes arranged around a shared central courtyard. These volumes are connected through semi-open, covered peripheral corridors—spaces that function not merely as circulation routes, but as intermediate layers mediating between the private residential units and the collective open space of the complex.

Positioned adjacent to the central green void and benefiting from natural light, views, and air movement, these semi-open circulation spaces acquire a role beyond pure functionality. They become places for pause, observation, and brief social encounters, contributing to the formation of everyday social life within the complex.

The open and porous nature of these corridors supports effective air circulation and enhances natural ventilation, while simultaneously acting as a climatic buffer that protects interior spaces from heavy rainfall and humidity. In this way, the boundary between inside and outside is not treated as a rigid separation, but as a continuous spatial gradient.

Alongside this spatial strategy, the soft, continuous geometry of the corridors, combined with transparent guardrails, reduces the visual heaviness of the building masses and establishes constant visual connections between floors, the courtyard, and the users. This approach reinforces the human scale of the project and enriches the experience of movement throughout the complex.
Overall, the project represents an attempt to redefine access and circulation in contemporary residential architecture in Rasht—shifting away from closed and isolating systems toward an open framework that emphasizes airflow, visual permeability, social interaction, and an improved quality of everyday living.
